Does I need my chimney swept?
A good chimney/flue is essential to the continuing efficient and safe operation of all solid fuel burning.
Soot contains compounds which are highly corrosive & flammable especially when wet, and must be removed to help prolong the life your flue/chimney.
Having you chimney swept reduces he risk of fires, removing debris and soot.
Recommended Sweeping Intervals:
You should have your chimney swept at least once a year as a minimum for moderate use.
This ensures your chimney is kept as clean as possible and prevents any build up that will become harder to remove if you leave it any longer.
Using approved low sulphur smokeless coal and ready to burn certified kiln dried logs are recommended. This helps prevent the build up of tar, creosote and sulphur. Soot is naturally corrosive and flammable so needs to be swept from your chimney or flue to help maintain and prolong its lifespan.
